LAKE CONSTANCE CYCLE TRACK: Lake Constance - The soul of Europe

Cycle Track:
The international Lake Constance Cycle Track runs well-marked in all 3 countries. In Switzerland near the train line or the lake, numerous free-LIDOS invite for a swim in between; in Austria directly at or near the LAKE, partly nature reserves; in Germany, partly at or near the lake; through some towns you CYCLE on bicycle lanes near roads.

Start and end:
BREGENZ (27.000 inh.), picturesquely situated festival town. From July 18th to August 18th we occassionally book neighbouring villages like Lindau or Dornbirn (only for arrivals Fri, Sat, Sun). Parking space in central underground car park for approx. € 75,- (payable on the spot). FRIEDRICHSHAFEN (58.000 inh.), unguarded parking space free of charge; or car park (approx. € 10,-/day). SALEM (1.200 inh.), spiritual centre of the Lake Constance region near Birnau, private parking space at the hotel free of charge.

Dates:
Daily arrival from April 21st to October 21st (=last arrival)
Low season: April 21st to May 20th, August 28th to October 21st
High season: May 21st to August 27th

Experience Umberto Giordano´s revolution opera ANDRÉ CHÉNIER on the lake stage on the following dates:

July: 20., 21., 22., 24., 26., 27., 28., 29., 31.
August: 2., 3., 4., 5., 7., 9., 10., 11., 12., 14., 17., 18.

Tickets € 70,- (Fri, Sat) or € 48,- (Sun to Thu) in the prize category 4 plus commission fee of 5 %. Our tip: especially beautiful on the last day/TT11.

Partly lonesome nature reserves like Seespitz/Alpenrhein, Argenmündung/Langenargen, Radolfzeller Moos, Convent island Reichenau, Peninsula Höri, Rheinfalls. Worth seeing is the new castle and the oldest German fortress in Meersburg, Constance with castle quarter, promenade, council, sealife a.s.o.; Stein/Rhein, Schaffhausen with the Dürer-Kastell Munot; Lindau with picturesque harbour and island town; Überlingen (Zürer-Sculptures, spa); the popular German attraction - the flower island Mainau - proofs the unique micro climate of the region. Interesting is also the fact that the borders of the three neighbouring countries of the lake are not regulated until now.
