German Danube Cycle Path: Unknown beauty

GERMAN DANUBE

At the Upper Danube natural reserve runs the Danube River through an idyllic scenery of valleys with the proud castles and monasteries. For 100 days each year nearby Möhringen, a small river dries up completely. Chain bridges allow access to this lonely valley for cyclists. At Mengen, the valley broadens, from Ehingen on, the cycle path leads to the "Blautopf", which is considered to be the most beautiful Karstic spring in Europe. Then the cycle path goes through alluvial forests till Günzburg. Over small roads and cycle paths, the way leads through rich pre-Alps landscapes to Neuburg and Ingolstadt. The Weltenburg and the Donaubreak monasteries near Regensburg are the highlights on the way.
