DANUBE CYCLE PATH
FACTS
Individual cycling tour with more spare time for the land and its people. Enjoy the natural landscape and real hospitality of the farmers.
ROUTE
- Day 1, Arrival
in Passau (optional arrival in Kramesau). Bicycle and information package distribution. Private parking.
- Day 2, Brandstatt or Feldkirchen (56 km cycling, 16 km by ship)
Getting by ship to Kasten. Riding through Aschach to Brandstatt or Feldkirchen.
- Day 3, Mitterkirchen (55 km)
Riding to Linz, the 2009 EU Capital of Culture and then continuing on the left bank through Mauthausen to Mitterkirchen (Celtic village)l
- Day 4, Persenbeug/Ybbs (38 km)
Passing by the Dornach Castle and Ardagger and continuing to Grein (Grein Castle). Then through Strudengau riding further to Persenbeug reaching the "Pichl" farmhouse or similar.
- Day 5, Aggsbach/Spitz (47 km)
Riding through Säusenstein and Pöchlarn to Melk, located in the Wachau Valley, continuing further to Aggsbach village.
- Day 6, Mautern/Michelndorf (28 km)
Riding through the world heritage site Wachau Valley and its vineyards reaching today's goal - Zellerhof or Severinhof.
- Day 7, Vienna (58 km cycling, 21 km train)
Riding through Tulln field to Roman city of Tulln and further to Greifenstein. Bicycle return and going by train to the center of Vienna to 3***Hotel Altmannsdorf.
- Day 8, Departure
Return journey to Passau by bus directly from the hotel.
FARMS
Nice and comfortable farms in 3 or 4 flowers categories. In Passau and Vienna 3***Hotel (partly also guest houses).
CUISINE
Healthy breakfasts with many homemade and farm specialities. Two evenings special farm meals.
