DRAVA CYCLE TRACK: From Southern Tyrol to Carinthia

Cycle Track: uniformly marked, 90 % bituminised, in the Puster Valley and partly in Eastern Tyrol hard-sanded. In the area SPITTAL a short distance near the federal road, otherwise away from the traffic. Legendary and in the whole region well-known is the beautiful route from 1.240 m high Toblach over Sillian (1.103 m) to Lienz (673 m) always on the bottom of the valley. Then past Spittal (560 m), Villach (501 m) to the Lake KLOPEINERSEE (446 m).

Start and end: Sillian at the border I/A approx. 120 min. by car from Innsbruck or 140 min. by car South of Kufstein. Lienz - one of the most beautiful trading towns of Tyrol. Sachsenburg near the Lake Millstättersee at the beginning of the Carinthian lakes located, St. Kanzian at the Lake Klopeinersee, the warmest Austrian lake. Well-maintained holiday town in open landscape.

Low season: May 1st to May 31st and Aug. 29th to Oct. 8th (=last arrival)
High season: June 1st to Aug. 28th

Service: Unguarded parking space on private grounds at the 1st hotel. Daily return transfer by bus to the parked car (arr. approx. 13 h in Sillian). Own bikes are taken for a surcharge of € 18,- without/€ 63,- with transport insurance.

Ideal for a bike tour into the Puster valley. Beautiful cycle track and slightly downhill to Bruneck (48 km) or Vintl (71 km). Back by train.

From the view of the 3.000er summits of the Dolomites at the beginning to the wildely romantic Karawanken at the end as well as the lovely lakes is the range of the impressions. Culturally: The Castles Porcia (Renaissance) and Bruck (important painting galery in the Egger-Lienz-Collection), the Castle Landskron; and the town centres of Lienz, Villach, Ferlach, Klagenfurt. Especially inviting is the wide view of the lakes (Millstätter-, Ossiacher-, Faaker- and Wörther-Lake). Very good swimming possibilities!
