Insider tips from the Moselle cycle path
Christina reports on her holiday on the Moselle
A cycle tour along the Moselle is perfect for connoisseurs and wine lovers. The picturesque landscape with its Moselle loops is a particular favourite for this cycle tour. Donau Touristik employee Christina and her mum and brother were recently able to see this for themselves. The trio cycled from Trier to Koblenz. Insider tip #1 - The best coffee break on the Moselle cycle path
Christina: We went to a restaurant called Schlossbergstübchen in Traben-Trarbach. We really liked it and it's perfect for a cosy break. The service was attentive, funny and friendly. The food was really delicious. We felt very comfortable all round. It was also possible to sit outside as the restaurant is in a quiet street. That was very nice.
Insider tip #2 - What impressed you the most?
Christina: We found the flat cycle path from Schweich to Trittenheim the most beautiful. The cycle paths are car-free and are idyllically situated next to the vineyards. We stopped again and again to enjoy the surroundings. The landscape with its many vineyards and Moselle bends offers unique scenery.
Insider tip #3 - What was the most important sight?
Christina: We really likedTraben-Trarbach from a historical point of view. The town is separated by a bridge. The buildings were extremely beautiful to look at. Everything is within easy walking distance. Koblenz was our personal highlight. We walked along the Rhine promenade to the Deutsches Eck. You can book round trips along the large promenade with boat moorings. We did this too and it is highly recommended. There are also a few small restaurants and stalls along the promenade. We were very impressed by the Deutsches Eck. It looks much bigger than in the photos and the Kaiser Wilhelm monument in the background is stunning.
I noticed that the people of Moselle are very relaxed, funny and friendly. You immediately feel at ease. Everything is very informal and uncomplicated. The cycle tour is perfect for wine drinkers and connoisseurs who just want to have a relaxing holiday.
