    VIENNA - BUDAPEST

    Diverse West- and Upper Hungary

Hungary and Slovakia invested a lot in this stage of EuroVelo 6 - Atlantic-Black Sea cycle route. The two national parks with its riparian forests, the Danube Bend with its lovely low mountain range and the free-flowing Danube with its islands and broad banks as well as the far, open view in the flatlands are worth visiting. One third of the track are car-free cycle trails, one third are car-free causeways and the rest are secondary roads with only few traffic - all very good signed.
Lovely cities like Hainburg, Györ, Komárom with its fortress, Szentendre or Vác are on the way. The Cathedral of Esztergom already shines from 20 km distance in the evening light.
