Karlstadt is the district town of the Main-Spessart district and is located in the Main-Franconian wine-growing region. The inhabitants of the historic town on the Main are called Flaak or Karschter Flaak.

Top Sights

The city wall is still well preserved today with some gates and towers. A large part of the old town is very well preserved and the medieval buildings are listed. The Romanesque-Gothic St. Andreas Cathedral and the historic town hall together with the half-timbered facades of the town houses form a special village idyll.

The beautiful old town is the destination of many cycle tourists in summer, who experience a journey back in time to the Middle Ages.
