Day 2, Ansbach (49 km)Bike pick-up (if booked) at the Infopoint. Initially slightly uphill to the source of the Altmühl and past the Hohenzollern castle of Colmberg to Ansbach. Entrance and guided tour of the residence (with one of the largest orangeries in the world).
Day 3, Wettelsheim/Weißenburg (62 km)To the Altmühlsee near Gunzenhausen and on to the Karlsgraben, Charlemagne's attempt to connect the Danube and Rhine. Continue to the day's destination.
Day 4, Eichstätt (50 km)Through the Altmühltal Nature Park past Solnhofen and the ‘Twelve Apostles’ rock formation to the old bishop's town (cathedral, Willibaldsburg, Church of the Guardian Angels).
Day 5, Beilngries (44 km)Via Walting and Arnsberg (castle) to Kipfenberg (castle, townscape) and to the day's destination.
Day 6, Kelheim (48 km)Via Dietfurt, where the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal meets the Altmühl, to Riedenburg (admission to the Crystal Museum) and Kelheim (townscape, Liberation Hall, Danube breakthrough).
Day 7, Regensburg (38 km)Via Saal an der Donau and Bad Abbach to Regensburg (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
Day 8, DepartureReturn journey by bus on Saturdays (additionally on Fridays in June and September) and on the remaining days by train (3 x changing trains). Return transfer of own bikes possible for an extra charge of € 38 as part of the return bus transfer. For return journeys by train on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, bikes are transported overnight. Drop off your own bikes at the last stage hotel by 5 pm the day before. Delivery (approximately 10 am) on the following day at the arrival hotel.
