The capital of Brandenburg, is located directly on the Havel and borders of Berlin in the southwest. Potsdam has an extraordinary cultural landscape to offer. In the 1770s/71s, Frederick II commissioned the construction of the Brandenburg Gate on Luisenplatz. At the end of the Seven Years' War, he had the old gate demolished and a new one built as a sign of victory.

Culture & Events

A vivid cultural life can be found in the Schiffbauergasse situated on the lake shore of the Tiefer See. In addition, there are also numerous concerts to be experienced at different locations.
