Route
Day 1, Arrival

To Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Issue of travel documents at the Info Point Hotel Goldenes Fass.

Day 2, Ansbach (49 km)

Distribution of rental bikes. Initially slightly hilly to the source of the Altmühl; past the Hohenzollern Castle in Colmberg to Ansbach. Entrance and guided tour of the Residence (with one of the largest orangeries in the world).

Day 3, Wettelsheim/Weißenburg (62 km)

Past Ornbau to the Altmühlsee near Gunzenhausen and further to the Karlsgraben, Charlemagne's attempt to connect the Danube and the Rhine; further to the destination for the day.

Day 4, Eichstätt (50 km)

Through the Altmühltal Nature Park past Solnhofen and the "Zwölf-Apostel" rock group to the old episcopal city (cathedral, Willibaldsburg, Schutzengelkirche).

Day 5, Beilngries (44 km)

Via Walting and Arnsberg (castle) to Kipfenberg (castle, town) and to the destination for the day.

Day 6, Kelheim (48 km)

Via Dietfurt, where the Rhine-Main-Danube Canal meets the Altmühl, to Riedenburg (entrance to the Crystal Museum) and to Kelheim.

Day 7, Regensburg (38 km)

Via Saal an der Donau and Bad Abbach to Regensburg (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Day 8, Departure

Return journey by bus on Saturdays (additional service on Sundays from May to September) and on the remaining days by train (3 transfers). Return transfer of your own bike to Rothenburg ob der Tauber during the bus journey and additionally every Thursday, Friday, and Sunday via overnight leap (latest drop-off by 5:00 pm on the previous day) for an additional fee of € 30.- (E-bike € 36.-) possible (if train/bus booked through us).
