Fulda

Fulda is a city in eastern Hesse and is located on the river Fulda of the same name in the federal state of Hesse, Germany. The city lies about 90 kilometers northeast of Frankfurt am Main and is surrounded by the low mountain ranges of the Rhön and the Vogelsberg. Fulda developed historically from a monastic foundation and grew over the centuries into an important religious and cultural center. Today, Fulda is an independent city with a central location in Germany and plays an important role as an administrative, educational, and economic hub for the region.

Fulda is known for its well-preserved Baroque cityscape. Among the most important sights are Fulda Cathedral (St. Salvator), the City Palace with its palace gardens, and the historic old town with its half-timbered houses and narrow streets.
