In addition to the city’s landmark, the Porta Nigra, these include the amphitheater, the Imperial Baths, the Aula Palatina (Constantine Basilica), and other impressive examples of Roman architecture. The Romanesque Cathedral of St. Peter also shapes the cityscape, as does the early Gothic Church of Our Lady and many other historic buildings from almost every era up to the 21st century.
Beyond its cultural highlights, Trier is surrounded by several nature reserves and protected landscapes. Numerous natural monuments and the scenic Moselle surroundings invite visitors to relax and explore.
