Top sights

Malcesine is considered a genuine medieval village. Not because of its dilapidated shops, but rather because of the atmosphere in its narrow, winding streets. The Scaliger Castle in particular is known as the village's landmark. The high tower rises 70 metres above the lake and dominates the townscape of Malcesine.

The cable car ride to Tratto Spino, a peak of Monte Baldo at an altitude of 1,760 metres, is also well worth the trip. From up there, you can enjoy a fabulous view of the lake nestled in the mountain ranges.

Culture & Events

Several events take place throughout the year. The fish festival in particular is a fixed date in the calendar, and not just for the locals. Every year in June, guests are treated to fresh specialities, music and drinks.

A large festival is held in honour of the patron saints S. Benigno and Caro. The town is transformed into a medieval centre for the occasion.

Cuisine

No one has ever left Malcesine with an empty stomach. There is a wide variety of traditional cuisines with unique flavours. These range from special trout recipes from Malcesine to meat and game dishes from Monte Baldo and the culinary highlight of polenta carbonera. The dishes are rich in flavour and steeped in tradition.
