Top sights

The highlight of the town is definitely the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta. The plaque on the facade of the bell tower is also worth seeing. It depicts the “Om de Fèr,” who, according to an old legend, is said to have killed the basilisks of Mezzocorona.

The Castel Firmian at the foot of Monte, Mezzocorona's local mountain, was built in the 15th century as the residence of the ruling family of the same name. A palazzo was also built, which now houses the town hall.

Above the castle is a hollow with Castel San Gottardo, a medieval castle complex. The cave castle was first mentioned in the 12th century, but is not advertised as a tourist attraction due to the risk of falling rocks. Nevertheless, the castle can be viewed from below.

Culture & Events

Winegrowing is deeply rooted in the culture of Mezzocorona. The vines are cultivated and tended according to an ancient tradition. The “Cittadella del Vino di Via del Teroldego” brings together modern wineries and producers that are worth visiting not only for their fine wines but also for their architecture.

Cuisine

Whether completely surrounded by nature at an altitude of over 1,000 meters or in the center of town, Mezzocorona also has a number of rustic mountain huts, cafés, and restaurants that impress with their regional cuisine and classic specialties.
