Schwaz is located in the central Lower Inn Valley, about a half-hour drive from Innsbruck. Slightly above the town is Freundsberg Castle, where the Schwaz City Museum showcases the town’s history and mining development. Another notable site is the Franciscan Monastery of Schwaz, famous for its Gothic wall paintings.
