Fulda and Weser Cycle Route: Classic 2026
Werner G.
Dear Donau-Touristik team,
Having cycled the Moselle Cycle Route with your company in 2024 and the Lake Constance Circular Route in 2025 – and having always been able to rely on the tour descriptions – we also enjoyed a wonderful week of cycling in 2026 on the ‘Fulda & Weser Cycle Route Classic: Fulda–Minden, 7 nights’ tour.
The hire bikes ran a treat! We were spared any breakdowns, but we’re already familiar with your excellent breakdown service from previous trips.
All the accommodation was of a very high standard. The accommodation in Hann. Münden was a bit rustic, but it had a very special charm thanks to the breakfast served in the church. The countryside and the cycle route were great fun despite the sometimes intense heat, partly because the tourist crowds here were much less intense.
Our highlights:
On the first day, you really must visit the little town of Schlitz with its four castles. The tower keeper of the famous ‘Kerze’ – where the castle tower is draped to look like a candle during Advent – even gave us a special guided tour just as the castle was closing. A museum like no other, complete with a lift and a musical interlude!
You almost automatically find yourself strolling through the magnificent castle grounds in Kassel with your eyes wide open.
As well as the famous Weser Stone in Hann. Münden, we found the Aegidienhof, with breakfast in the adjoining church, particularly charming. The evening spent drinking Dr Eisenbart beer right on the town hall square, followed by a brewery tour, will also remain unforgettable for us.
At the Münchhausen Museum in Bodenwerder, we were given a very warm welcome as a group and were treated to a special guided tour featuring many stories about the Baron.
The medieval town of Hamelin impressed us just as much as our destination hotel in Minden, with a delicious farewell meal.
Many thanks for the wonderful trip and the excellent organisation!
