Your individual journey takes you to the elegant spa town of Merano, the ideal base for this varied cycling holiday. A complimentary parking space is available at the hotel for the duration of your stay. After arrival, you have time to explore the town’s historic streets, charming promenades and unique Alpine-Mediterranean atmosphere at your own pace. Day 2 - Bolzano (42 km cycling, 44 minutes by train)

Today’s ride takes you through the orchards and vineyards of South Tyrol towards Terlano, a traditional wine-growing village along the Adige River. Following the river southwards, you reach the confluence of the Adige and Isarco rivers before continuing into the centre of Bolzano. The capital of South Tyrol is renowned for its impressive cathedral and the famous arcades known as the Lauben. After exploring the lively old town and enjoying its unique blend of Alpine and Italian influences, you return comfortably by train to Merano.

Day 3 - Lake Caldaro (52 km cycling, 58 minutes by train)

A short train journey brings you to Sigmundskron, where today’s cycling tour begins. The route leads through the sun-drenched vineyards of South Tyrol to Tramin, one of the region’s best-known wine villages. Continuing through this attractive landscape, you reach Lake Caldaro, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. After visiting Caldaro with its historic centre, you follow the former railway line back towards Sigmundskron. From there, the train takes you comfortably back to Merano. This varied excursion offers a wonderful combination of nature, wine culture and scenic beauty.

Day 4 - Malles to Goldrain (43 km cycling, 70 minutes by train)

Begin the day with a panoramic journey on the Vinschgau Railway to Malles at an altitude of 1,051 metres. From here, you cycle through the Upper Vinschgau Valley, first reaching Glorenza, South Tyrol’s smallest town, famous for its remarkably preserved medieval walls. The route then follows the valley floor on mostly level terrain or gently downhill through orchards, villages and picturesque rural landscapes. Riding through one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful regions, you continue to Goldrain or Laces before returning comfortably to Merano by train.

Day 5 - Mezzocorona (65 km cycling, 68 minutes by train)

Following the Adige Cycle Path, you first reach the confluence with the Isarco River before continuing south through vineyards and fertile farmland. The route passes the historic Salorno Gorge, traditionally regarded as the linguistic boundary between the German-speaking and Italian-speaking regions. Well-maintained cycle paths accompany you through the scenic countryside as you make your way to Mezzocorona. After enjoying the atmosphere of this charming Trentino destination, you return to Merano by train, making for a relaxing end to the day.

Active version: Continue to Trento, the magnificent city of the Council of Trent (+22 km cycling, +32 minutes by train).

Day 6 - Passeier Valley (40-46 km)

Today’s route leads into the Passeier Valley, one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful Alpine valleys. Surrounded by impressive mountain peaks, green alpine meadows and traditional villages, you cycle steadily and gently uphill along pleasant routes deep into the valley. Throughout the ride, magnificent views of the surrounding mountain scenery accompany you. Your destination is either St. Martin, known for its picturesque village centre, or the further valley settlement of St. Leonhard. After a relaxing break, you return along the same route to Merano.

Day 7 - Merano (23 km)

Spend your final cycling day discovering Merano and its surroundings at a relaxed pace. Following the attractive Passer Promenade, you can explore different corners of the town while enjoying views of the river and mountains. If you wish, visit the Merano Thermal Baths with their 25 pools, extensive sauna facilities and modern wellness area. A stop at the traditional horse-racing track is also worthwhile. Nature enthusiasts may prefer to visit the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, where twelve hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens showcase plant species from around the world.

Day 8 - End of the Cycling Holiday

After breakfast, your cycling holiday comes to an end. Depending on your departure schedule, you may still have time for a final stroll through Merano’s historic centre or along the Passer River. Afterwards, you begin your individual journey home, taking with you lasting memories of scenic cycle routes, impressive Alpine landscapes, charming towns and the cultural highlights of South Tyrol and Trentino.
