The popular long-distance cycle path Alpe Adria leads through the contrasting landscapes of Austria and Italy. The impressive Carinthian mountains and the Mediterranean flair of the Italian Adriatic have their very own charm.

Arrival every Saturday and Sunday from April 25th to October 11th
Off season: April 25th to May 10th and September 26th to October 11th
Low season: June 13th to July 12th and September 19th and 20th
High season: May 16th to June 7th and July 18th to September 13th

The light blue dates in the calendar are very popular dates. These can be booked online, but there may be surcharges or hotel or location changes. We would be happy to inform you based on your online booking how we can offer your bike holiday.

Route
Day 1, Arrival

to Villach. Depending on availability, free public parking (Willroider parking lot, SEZ-Straße) or directly at the hotel (payable on site). Parking garage at the main train station (approximately € 35,- per week on site) or underground garage Contipark Parkhaus Zentrum (€ 6,- per day on site). Collection of rental bikes (if booked).

Day 2, Valbruna (44 km by bike, 341 hm)

Car-free and only gently/continuously ascending, the route leads beautifully through forests and charming villages along or near the Gail River to Arnoldstein; then continues to the day’s destination.

Day 3, Carnia/Gemona (59/72 km by bike)

Today you reach the heart of the Alpe Adria Cycle Path. You cycle through the narrow valley of the Fella River along the car-free former railway line to Pontebba and continue to Carnia or Gemona.

Day 4, Udine (63/50 km by bike)

You reach the magnificent trading town with numerous sights via partly car-free paths near the Tagliamento River or on side roads. The route passes Osoppo and Buia through the fertile landscape of Friuli.

Day 5, Grado (63 km by bike)

From the city center, follow the cycle path to Palmanova, a Venetian fortress town from the 16th century. Continue via Cervignano to Aquileia, the former imperial residence of the Roman Empire (UNESCO World Heritage Site), and on to the harbor town of Grado.

Day 6, End of the cycle tour

Return transfer for persons

Every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday by bus near the hotel in Grado (central meeting point approximately 450 meters from the hotel) to Villach (arrival around 12 p.m.). On the remaining days, return on your own (discount € 55,-).

Return transfer of your own bicycles

Transfer of your own bicycle during the bus return trip every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for € 38,- for regular bicycles and e-bikes (limited spaces). On the remaining days, return on your own.
