Day 2, Dutch Quarter and Einstein House (23 km)Along the lake to the center of Potsdam (Dutch Quarter, St. Nicholas Church). Take the ferry to Hermannswerder. Continue to Caputh, possibly visiting the Albert Einstein House. Take the ferry to Geltow and back.
Day 3, Wannsee (40 km)Along the lake to Glienicker Bridge and past Peacock Island on the Wall Trail to Wannsee and back.
Active version: Continue over the bridge to Schwanenwerder Island (+17 km)
Day 4, Schwielowsee/Werder (38 km)Along Templiner See to the island town of Werder. Past Petzow Castle and Ferch (beach) to Caputh. Take the ferry to Geltow and back.
Day 5, Castle tour (30 km)Along the lakes to Glienicke Palace. Continue to Belvedere Pfingstberg, Sanssouci Palace (hanging gardens) and the New Palace and back.
Day 6, Into the hinterland (40 km)Along the lakes via Golm to Töplitz Island (nature reserve) and back via Bornim.
Day 7, Wannsee - Cecilienhof (50 km)To Wannsee and by ferry to Alt-Kladow. Continue to Sacrow Palace and Park (Heilandskirche) and back the same way.

Construction of the New Palace began in 1763 after the end of the Seven Years' War under Frederick the Great and was completed in 1769. It is considered the last significant Baroque palace complex in Prussia. Frederick did not plan it as a royal residence, but as a palace for guests of his court. Emperor Wilhelm II made the New Palace his summer residence. The bedroom of the imperial couple, for example, can still be seen today.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Belvedere on the Pfingstberg is an insider tip with a breathtaking view over Potsdam's palaces and lakes. Despite its impressive architecture, this gem is unfortunately little known. Ticket included!
