Top sights

Bernrieder Park is a true natural oasis located directly on the lake, inviting visitors to linger. Benches and small bathing bays on the lake offer the perfect opportunity to take a break in beautiful surroundings.

There are a number of castles around Lake Starnberg. These include Höhenried Castle. Unlike the others, however, it was never a castle in the true sense of the word—it was never used as the residence of influential lords with homarchal or sovereign rights. Today, the castle is used for celebrations of all kinds.

Culture & Events

The Buchheim Museum, also known as the Museum of Imagination, houses works by Expressionist artists. Lothar-Günther Buchheim, the museum's namesake and founder, did not see himself as an art collector, but rather as a collector and disseminator. With constantly changing exhibitions on the general theme of Expressionism and its secondary collections, it is intended to be an unconventional museum.

Bernried Monastery is now better known as the St. Martin Educational Center. It was founded in 1972 and is one of the oldest church educational institutions in Germany. Today, it is a listed building and has been continuously renovated and refurbished.

Cuisine

Visitors can experience Bavarian cuisine in Bernried on Lake Starnberg. Traditional beer gardens and inns offer specialties such as white sausage, pretzels, and much more. The picturesque location on Lake Starnberg provides an idyllic backdrop for enjoying regional dishes and Bavarian delicacies.
