❄️ Budapest ❄️
Advent markets
From the end of November until Christmas, Budapest's most beautiful squares are transformed into magical Christmas markets every year. The scent of Christmas baking, hot punch and roasted almonds fills the air. The old town centre and shopping streets are decorated with festive lights and put the city in a Christmassy mood.
We recommend a visit to one of the following Advent markets:
Vörösmarty Square
St Stephen's Basilica
Erszébet Square
Town Hall Park
Top sights
The city's most famous buildings are lined up along the banks of the Danube. On the western bank are the Citadel, the magnificent Castle Palace and the Matthias Church with the Fisherman's Bastion. The eastern bank of the Danube is home to the city's landmark, the 286 metre long Parliament Building, as well as other magnificent buildings.
Culture & Events
A major cultural speciality of Budapest is its spa culture, which dates back over 2000 years and was already appreciated by the Romans. Due to the special geotectonic location, there are a large number of thermal springs and spas.
Cuisine
Hungarian cuisine knows more than just goulash and paprika and is one of the best cuisines in Europe. A distinctive speciality is Tokaj, a fruity dessert wine. As in Vienna, Budapest has a lively coffee house culture.
