Top sights
Erfurt's most famous and impressive landmarks are the gothic St. Marien Dome with St. Severi Church and the Krämerbrücke, Europe's longest built-up and inhabited bridge. The baroque Petersberg Citadel was considered an impregnable city fortress and, together with the old synagogue, is a testament to European architecture.

Culture & Events
Erfurt is the spiritual home of the reformer Martin Luther, who lived there for 10 years. Just like Luther, Napoleon Bonaparte and Goethe also left their mark on Erfurt.

Cuisine
Erfurt's gastronomy offers a wide variety of dishes, from bratwurst to Klöße (dumplings). Thanks to optimal growing conditions, Erfurt broad beans are not only popular as a side dish in many meals, but also as a plush souvenir.
