The Romanesque cathedral, the Renaissance church of Sant'Andrea, the Palazzo Ducale, and the Palazzo Te are among the city's most important sights. The cathedral of Mantua, also known as the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, is located not far from the Basilica of Sant'Andrea. The Palazzo Te is a pleasure palace commissioned in 1524 by Federico II Gonzaga, Marquis of Mantua. The Palazzo Ducale, the main seat of power of the Gonzaga family, is particularly famous for its frescoes by Andrea Mantegna.
