The palm-lined Promenade des Anglais is one of Nice’s landmarks and also a popular promenade with a wide pedestrian area. Nature lovers will also find plenty to enjoy. The largest and most romantic park is on the Colline du Château, where you can admire a waterfall and the Notre Dame du Château Cathedral.
Culture & Events
Nice boasts a rich architectural heritage. Particularly worth seeing are the numerous palaces and Baroque churches from the Savoyard era. The Old Town, with its picturesque alleys, is home to many sacred buildings from the Baroque period.
The port city hosts numerous cultural, musical, and sporting events. The most famous of these is undoubtedly the Carneval de Nice.
Cuisine
The cuisine of Nice is typical of Provence. Mediterranean dishes dominate. Dishes featuring Swiss chard, which is grown very close to the city, are widespread. A classic is socca, a pancake made from chickpea flour.
