It plays an important role, especially in South Tyrolean mythology. It is said that the underground parts of the kingdom of Fanes could be reached by boat. The buried gate to the underworld is said to have been located at the southern end of the lake towards Seekofel, where today the imposing Seekofel (2,810 metres above sea level) towers over Lake Braies. On a lake tour in one of the nostalgic rowing boats, you can relax and unwind in the picturesque scenery. Visiting Lake Braies is free of charge. It is recommended to travel there directly by bicycle or public transport.
