  • Cycle from the medieval trading town of Lienz, with amazing views of the 3000 metre peaks of the east Tyrolean alps, to the lovely Drau valley, and around the crystal clear Carinthian lakes.
  • Lake Wörthersee is Austria's most famous lake. The Maria Wörth peninsula can be found in all picture books about Austria as one of the most beautiful photo motifs in the entire Alpine republic.

Arrival every Friday and Saturday from May 15th to September 5th and additionally Thursday on May 14th and June 4th

Off Season: 4th and 5th of September

Route
Day 1, Arrival in Lienz

Public parking near your hotel e.g. central train station/Ladestraße (approximately € 4,80 per day), by the Dolomitenstadion (approximately € 24,- per week) oder directly at the hotel (any fees payable on the spot). Overnight stay in a 4☼☼☼☼ or 3☼☼☼ hotel. Your rental bike (if booked) will be waiting for you at the hotel.

Day 2, Berg/Dellach (36 km)

After visiting the Egger-Lienz gallery in Bruck castle and passing Oberdrauburg and Feistritz, you reach your destination for the day. Overnight stay in a 3☼☼☼ hotel

Day 3, Spittal/Seeboden (45 km)

Through the broad Drau valley to Greifenburg and past Raggnitz castle to your destination for the day. Overnight stay in a 4☼☼☼☼ hotel.

Day 4, around Lake Millstättersee (41 km)

Around the lake (about 50% gentle elevations, with firm sand paths). Overnight stay like the previous day.

Day 5, Villach (38 km)

Past the Carantana Roman museum to Villach. Overnight stay in a 4☼☼☼☼ hotel.

Day 6, Lake Wörthersee/Klagenfurt (42 km)

Along the Drau cycle cath to Lind and Velden and along the Lake Wörthersee cycle path to Auen or Klagenfurt/Krumpendorf. Overnight stay per your choice in a 4☼☼☼☼ or 3☼☼☼ hotel.

Day 7, Lake Wörthersee Cycle Path (40 km)

Around the lake with gorgeous views. Overnight stay like the previous day.

Day 8, Return journey

Return to Lienz via train (hourly connections, about 155 minutes by train). The transport of your own bike on the train is possible.
