After your individual arrival, you will receive your travel documents and booked rental bikes directly at the arrival hotel. All important information regarding your arrival can be found in the documents provided. For the duration of your booked cycling holiday, a parking space is available either at the hotel or, alternatively, at a nearby public car park approximately a 3-minute walk away. This allows you to arrive relaxed and prepare at your leisure for the cycling stages ahead.

Day 2, Spittal/Seeboden (54 km by bike)Along the Alpe Adria Cycle Path, you first follow the valley floor via Obervellach to the Drava Valley. The route continues past Möllbrücke and on to Seeboden. Depending on your fitness level and interests, you may wish to take a particularly scenic detour along the traffic-free Millstätter See Cycle Path. Following the lakeshore to Sappl, you can enjoy beautiful views of Lake Millstatt and the surrounding mountain landscape. Afterwards, you cycle back and forth to Seeboden before continuing to your day’s destination.

Day 3, Tarvisio (69 km by bike/312 metres altitude)Today, you cycle on mostly flat terrain and largely traffic-free paths along or close to the Drava River. The route first leads through Paternion to the Drava town of Villach, whose attractive old town, with its historic buildings, charming squares and inviting alleyways, is well worth a short stop. You then follow the Gail River as the landscape gradually becomes more alpine. The route climbs gently but steadily before continuing via Arnoldstein to Tarvisio. Situated at the crossroads of Austria, Italy and Slovenia, this picturesque town provides a memorable and atmospheric end to the day’s stage.

Day 4, Carnia/Venzone/Gemona (52/64 km by bike)Today, you experience the very heart of the Alpe Adria Cycle Path. Following the narrow valley of the Fella River, you cycle largely traffic-free along the former railway line, which has been converted into a well-developed cycle path. Along the way, you enjoy impressive views of the surrounding mountains while following the historic route of the old railway. The path leads comfortably to Pontebba, after which a short section on public roads takes you further through a varied landscape to today’s destination. This stage is widely regarded as one of the most scenic highlights of the entire route.

Day 5, Udine (56/44 km by bike)Partly traffic-free and close to the Tagliamento River, and partly along quiet secondary roads, you continue your cycling journey through the varied landscapes of Friuli. The route leads past Buja and through a fertile region characterised by vineyards, fields and small villages. Along the way, you can enjoy sweeping views of the distinctive cultural landscape of northern Italy before reaching your day’s destination. This important trading city impresses with numerous sights, including Piazza della Libertà and Piazza Matteotti, the Cathedral, and a charming historic centre with elegant squares and picturesque streets.

Day 6, Grado (63 km by bike)Via Palmanova, renowned for its impressive Venetian star-shaped fortress town, you continue your journey through the varied landscapes of Friuli. You then reach Aquileia, one of the most important historical sites in northern Italy, with numerous remains of its Roman past. From there, the route leads through the fascinating lagoon landscape, with its canals, waterways and unspoilt natural areas. Finally, you arrive in the charming coastal town of Grado, whose atmospheric old town, maritime flair and location on the Adriatic Sea provide a delightful conclusion to today’s trip.

Day 7, DepartureAfter breakfast, your cycling holiday in Grado comes to an end. If you wish, you can extend your stay on the Adriatic coast by booking additional nights and enjoy more time by the sea. For your return journey, a passenger transfer by bus is available at an additional cost from a centrally located meeting point near the hotel, approximately a 5 to 10-minute walk away, to the arrival hotel in Mallnitz, with arrival at around 2:30 p.m. From there, you continue your journey home independently.
Information for the return transferPassenger return transferThe passenger return transfer can be booked for a supplement of € 75,- per person. The transfer operates every Saturday and Sunday from May 15th to October 23rd. On all other days, the return journey to Mallnitz must be arranged independently.
Return transfer of your own bikesThe return transfer of your own bicycle as part of the bus transfer can be booked for a supplement of € 40,- per bicycle.
