Route
Sunday, arrival

to Eichstätt on the Altmühl River. Parking is available near the hotel (approx. 10 per week, payable on site) or in the hotel parking garage (subject to availability, approx. €10 per day, payable on site). Your rental bike (if booked) will be waiting for you at the hotel.

Monday, Pfünz Roman Fort (29 km, 150 hm)

Follow the bike path to Wasserzell, past Ochsenfeld and Pietenfeld to the Roman fort in Pfünz, then return via the Altmühl Bike Path. Guided tour of Eichstätt.

Tuesday, Karlsgraben (51 km by bike, 23 minutes by train) 

Past the Burgstein rock formation to the famous “Twelve Apostles” rock formation in the Altmühl Valley, continuing via Pappenheim Castle to Treuchtlingen, then to the Treuchtlingen Museum, and on to Karlsgraben. Return from Treuchtlingen by train (trains run approximately every hour).

Wednesday, Roman Circuit (44 km) 

Visit Willibaldsburg Castle in Eichstätt. Follow the Altmühl Cycle Path to Pfünz, then continue via Oberzell and Eitensheim to reach Tauberfeld. Passing Villa Rustica, cycle via Adelschlag and Ochsenfeld to Wasserzell and back. Beer tasting at the hotel in the evening.

Thursday, Urdonau & Schuttertal Cycle Path (49 km by bike, 10-minute train ride) 

To Dollnstein, through the Urdonau Valley to Wellheim, then continue along the Schuttertal Bike Trail to Buxheim and Tauberfeld. Return by train (approximately every half hour) and by bike to the hotel. Active option: Return via Adelschlag (+10 km, slightly hilly).

Friday, Kipfenberg (52 km)

Bike tour to Kipfenberg and back.
