Route
1. Day, Bregenz

Arrive individually in Bregenz. At the information point, you will receive your travel documents and rental bicycles if booked. Afterwards, there is plenty of time to explore the Festival City on Lake Constance at your own pace. If arriving by car, several parking options are available subject to availability: economical parking spaces about 2 to 4 km from the information point for approximately € 6,- per day, central public parking for around € 10,- per day, or parking at the arrival hotel for about € 10,- to € 20,- per day, all payable locally. Special rates are available at the Pfänderbahn underground car park and advance booking is recommended. Alternatively, Bregenz is easily accessible by train.

2. Day, Egnach/Güttingen (46/56 km)

Your first cycling stage leads along the shores of Lake Constance. Passing the Festival Hall and the famous floating stage, you continue towards Mehrerau, where the active monastery is located directly on the lakeside. The route then takes you through the Altenrhein nature reserve with its rich flora and fauna before reaching Staad. Following the waterfront, you cycle through Rorschach and Arbon, both known for their attractive promenades and historic buildings. This varied stage combines natural beauty, cultural highlights and magnificent lake views before you arrive in Egnach or Güttingen.

3. Day, Singen/Rielasingen (55/65 km)

Today you follow the shoreline of Lake Constance westwards to Kreuzlingen. Passing charming Swiss villages such as Ermatingen and Berlingen, you enjoy wonderful views of the Untersee section of the lake. One of the day’s highlights is Stein am Rhein, famous for its exceptionally well-preserved old town, richly decorated facades and medieval atmosphere. After exploring this remarkable town, you continue your journey through a landscape that perfectly combines nature and history before reaching Singen or Rielasingen for the night.

4. Day, Schaffhausen & Rhine Falls (55 km)

Today’s route follows the Rhine Cycle Path to Schaffhausen. The impressive Munot Fortress dominates the townscape and invites you to discover the city individually. You then continue to the famous Rhine Falls, Europe’s largest waterfall. An included boat trip allows you to experience this spectacular natural wonder from close range and admire the immense power of the cascading water. After this unforgettable excursion, you return to your overnight location and enjoy a relaxing evening in familiar surroundings.

5. Day, Constance/Kreuzlingen (57 km)

From your overnight location, the route leads across the idyllic Höri Peninsula to Radolfzell. Along the way, you are accompanied by beautiful views of Lake Constance and varied lakeside scenery. Passing the famous monastery island of Reichenau, you continue to Constance or Kreuzlingen. If you wish, you can take an additional round trip around Reichenau Island, extending the route by 16 km. Historic buildings, cultivated landscapes and the unique atmosphere of this UNESCO World Heritage Site make the detour particularly worthwhile.

6. Day, Constance & Mainau Island

Today is at your leisure. Take the opportunity to explore the historic Council City of Constance with its charming old town, winding alleyways and lively lakeside promenade. Alternatively, you may visit the famous Flower Island of Mainau. Its magnificent gardens, landscaped parks and seasonal floral displays make it one of the most popular attractions on Lake Constance. Choosing this excursion extends the day’s cycling distance by 14 km, allowing you to spend the day according to your own interests and preferences.

7. Day, Friedrichshafen (47 km cycling, 15 ferry minutes)

You first cycle to Wallhausen and cross the lake by ferry to Überlingen. The route then follows the northern shore of Lake Constance. In Uhldingen, the renowned prehistoric pile dwellings are well worth a visit before you continue to picturesque Meersburg with its historic silhouette overlooking the lake. Via Immenstaad, you reach Friedrichshafen, a town closely linked to the history of airship travel. Highlights include the former customs office, the striking castle church and the Zeppelin Museum, which provides fascinating insights into the development of the famous airships.

8. Day, Bregenz (35 km)

Your final cycling stage leads through the nature reserve at the mouth of the Argen River, known for its diverse flora and fauna. If you wish, you can make a detour along the Argen to Laimnau, extending the route by a further 18 km. You then reach the historic island town of Lindau, famous for its picturesque harbour entrance and charming narrow streets. Following the shores of Lake Constance, you return to Bregenz and can enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Festival City once more before your cycling holiday comes to an end.

9. Day, End of the Cycling Tour

After breakfast, your Lake Constance cycling holiday comes to an end. You may wish to spend some additional time exploring Bregenz or taking a final stroll along the lakeside before starting your individual journey home. Thanks to excellent rail connections, travelling by train is a convenient option. If you would like to discover the region in greater depth, additional nights can be booked, giving you more time to explore the many attractions around Lake Constance at a relaxed pace.
