Monday, Trier (44 km by bike, 42 minutes by train)Follow the Moselle Cycle Route past Grevenmacher to the Roman city of Trier (Germany’s oldest city). Explore on your own (Porta Nigra and much more), then return by train (hourly service; approx. €16 on site) or by bike (+42 km).
Tuesday, Sierck-les-Bains (24 km)In the morning, cycle via Perl to Apach and on to the medieval town of Sierck-les-Bains (enchanting fortress, townscape) and back.
Wednesday, Metz (57 km by bike, 44 minutes by train)Along the Moselle Cycle Route via Koenigsmacker to Thionville (old town, town hall); by train (every half hour; approx. €8 on site) to the center of eastern France’s cultural metropolis, featuring the Centre Pompidou, a truly unique cathedral, and an impressive old town; return by train to Thionville (same route as the outbound trip) and by bike to the hotel.
Thursday, Perl (33 km)To the Moselle and on via Remich to Perl (80 hm to the Nell Baroque Garden); back to the Roman Villa Borg Archaeological Park (150 hm) and then to the best-preserved Roman mosaic north of the Alps at Villa Nennig and back to the hotel.
