The Danube Cycle Path is the father of all long-distance cycling routes. The most comfortable way to explore it, is in daily stages of 55 to 70 flat kilometers, with overnight stays on our river cruise ship. Occasionally, low water levels may mean that navigation is only possible from Passau to Vienna, and the destination of the cycling cruise, Budapest, cannot be reached by ship. Any necessary low-water alternatives can be found in the latest updates at www.donau-reisen.eu. These involve route adjust ments but do not affect the quality of your cycling tours and, in the event of low water levels, form part of the contracted travel services. In these very rare circumstances, which are clearly vi sible to everyone, we offer an alternative program including all listed services and daily changing cycling tours along the flat, car-free Danube Cycle Path, covering approximately 55 to 70 e kilometers. Detailed descriptions are provided 10 days prior to arrival as mentioned above. We will refund with the payment of the consumptions on board € 55,- pp/stay for main deck/main deck astern cabins and € 77,- pp/stay for promenade/upper deck cabins for fuel savings a.s.o. Cancellations for this reason can therefore not be accepted.

To Passau by train or car. Boarding from 3:30 p.m. at the landing stage in Passau Lindau. Bustransfer from Passau main station to the ship at approximately 4:30 p.m. After embarkation, a welcome dinner will be served. Depending on the water level, it may be possible to take the ship to Passau's old town for an individual tour of the three-river city (alternatively by taxi; cost approximately €10 per person per trip)
Saturday, Wesenufer - Schlögener Schlinge – Linz (64 km)After breakfast, rental bicycles (if booked) will be distributed. Cycle via Niederranna to Au. Take the ferry to Schlögen (approximately €4, payable locally), then continue through the spectacular Schlögener Loop and the narrow Danube valley near Kaiserau to the Church of the 1,000 Angels, and on to Linz.
Sunday, Tulln – Vienna (31 km)Individual tour of the State Garden Show in Tulln (bookable on board for €13). Followed by a bike tour with views of the foothills of the Vienna Woods to the waltz metropolis of Vienna. Lunch on board. Individual city tour by bike through Vienna (+ 18 km on car-free cycle paths) or optional: guided bike tour (3 hours). Dinner on board. Optional: Guided city tour by bus (2 hours). Active option: Cycle through the Donau-Auen National Park to Hainburg (54 km) and return by suburban train (hourly service, direct connection via Handelskai, approx. 70 minutes travel time; ticket approximately €16, payable on spot).
Monday, Komárno-Estzgergom/Budapest(56 km)Cycle tour along the Danube Cycle Path (EuroVelo 6) from Komárno (Fortress, Europe Square) passing the Roman fort Kelemantia to Esztergom–Štúrovo and continue on traffic-free routes directly to the ship. Optional: individual visit to the basilica in Esztergom. In the evening, take a boat trip to the magnificently illuminated Danube metropolis of Budapest.
Tuesday, cycle tour to Margaret Island (22 km)Optional: morning city tour by bus to the most beautiful sights of Budapest (3 hours) or, in the afternoon, a guided cycling tour. Tips for cycling on car-free paths through the city centre to Margaret Island. Active version: bike tour to the artists' village of Szentendre (55 km there and back). Departure from Budapest in the early evening.
Arrival at around 10 a.m. Optional: Guided walk of Bratislava (1 hour). Lunch on board. Bike tour to Danubia Meulensteen Culture Island (individual visit to museums and gallery). Return to the ship along the same route, with opportunities for refreshments along the way. Active option: Cycle via Hainburg to Schloss Hof Palace and return via Devín (approximately 58 km, including 6 km on public roads between Devín and Bratislava).
Cycling tour from Krems (UNESCO World Heritage Site) through the beautiful Wachau region. Via Dürnstein and Spitz, past Melk with views of the imposing monastery, to Marbach.
Friday, Disembarkation/PassauArrival at 9 a.m. in Passau. At approximately 10:30 a.m., bus transfer to the main railway station. Disembarkation by 10 a.m. in Passau.
Program changes on the journey are, in the interest of your safety, at the discretion of the 1st captain due to factors such as high water, low water, or other cases of FORCE MAJEURE, at any time (even at short notice). Arrival times are subject to lock waiting times and normal water levels.
