Individual arrival in Perl. You will receive your travel documents at the hotel where you are staying, and any hire bikes you have booked will already be ready for you. For the duration of your trip, you can park your car free of charge – subject to availability – either directly at the hotel or in a public car park near the hotel or town centre. Make the most of your time for an initial stroll through this wine-growing village in the border triangle of Germany, Luxembourg and France, and get in the mood for the upcoming days of cycling along the Moselle.

You’ll cycle through the wine-growing countryside, first to Nennig, home to Germany’s most significant Roman mosaic. You’ll then follow the course of the Moselle through the charming market towns of Grevenmacher, Oberbillig and Konz on your way to Trier. Along the way, you’ll be treated to lovely views of the river, vineyards and historic town centres. In Trier, to round off the day, a boat trip on the Moselle awaits, giving you the chance to experience the city and its surroundings from a different perspective.

Today you’ll follow the course of the Moselle all the way to Schweich, with its striking old ferry tower. Along the route, you’ll repeatedly come across impressive remnants of the Roman era, including a villa rustica, a Roman aqueduct, a replica Roman ship and a historic wine press. The route continues through the famous Trittenheim Moselle loop, passing through a cultural landscape characterised by vineyards, to Trittenheim or Neumagen Dhron.

You’ll cycle through picturesque vineyards to Bernkastel-Kues, one of the most famous wine-growing towns on the Moselle. On the right bank of the Moselle lies Landshut Castle; due to the steep climb, a visit is best undertaken on foot and takes around 45 minutes. In Kues, you’ll find traces of a Neolithic settlement, a historic market square with half-timbered houses, and the Moselle Wine Museum. You’ll then continue along the Moselle to the wine village of Zeltingen.

Today’s cycle route is characterised by the numerous bends in the Moselle. The varied route takes you through one of Germany’s most famous wine-growing regions and offers repeated beautiful views of the river and vineyard-covered slopes. Passing through Traben-Trarbach, with the ruins of Grevenburg Castle and remnants of the historic city walls, you’ll reach Zell. This traditional wine-growing village is renowned for its long history of viticulture and is the destination for today’s stage along the Moselle.

Via Bullay, with its traces of Roman settlement, the route leads to Bremm, where the ruins of Stuben Abbey lie near the river. The journey continues to Beilstein, which is often referred to as the ‘Rothenburg on the Moselle’ due to its historic townscape. The ruins of Metternich Castle are also well worth a visit here. You will then reach the medieval town of Cochem. A highlight is the Reichsburg, whose origins date back to around the year 1000.

Cycling along the left bank of the Moselle, you’ll pass through Klotten, Pommern and Treis-Karden – with its abbey museum and abbey church – on your way to Moselkern, where a visit to the famous Eltz Castle is well worth it. Passing Bischofstein Castle, the ferry tower at Hatzenport and Thurant Castle, you’ll reach Kobern-Gondorf and Güls. In Koblenz, you can look forward to the Deutsches Eck, the Electoral Palace, the Moselle and Rhine promenades, and the old town. The itinerary also includes a ride on the panoramic cable car and a visit to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.

After breakfast, your cycle tour along the Moselle comes to an end. Make the most of the remaining time for a final stroll through Koblenz or along the riverside promenade before setting off on your individual journey home. If you’d like to explore the region in greater depth, you can book extra nights and discover more of the city’s or the Moselle Valley’s sights. You will then depart independently in accordance with your personal travel plans. A return train journey to Perl is available at an additional cost (€ 25,- per person). Bike transfer (your own bike) is available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (bikes must be handed in by 5 pm at the latest the day before) at an additional cost (€ 40,- per bike).
